Pet transport quotes are usually a black box. Ours is one number you can do the maths on yourself before you ever contact us — plus one clearly stated fee for the long hauls.

Charged on the driving distance of your transport — the vehicle, the fuel, the stops, the updates and the hand-off. A 300-mile trip is $150; a 600-mile trip is $300.

Trips that run more than eight hours carry an additional fee on top of the mileage. Long hauls mean overnight driving, rest breaks and a return leg, and we would rather price that openly than bury it.

Rod and Kristi, and the miles in between
When you message Alabama Pet Transport Services, Kristi or Rod reads it. When your pet is collected, one of them is at the door. When the photos arrive from a rest stop six states away, they took them. That single fact shapes everything else about how this works.
It is why a request that came in at eight in the evening could be answered within minutes and be on the road the following morning — a round trip of more than twenty hours to collect one puppy whose new family had no way to reach him. And it is why a dog on a shelter’s urgent list, out of time and out of options, could be collected and driven home instead.
Customers describe it in ways we could not write about ourselves: that Kristi “immediately feels like family,” and that we didn’t just drop off and take off. That last one matters to us most.

Service & coverage
Where do you transport pets?
Anywhere in the United States. We are based in Alabama and drive to all 50 states. There is no mileage radius — if the pickup and drop-off can be reached by road, we can quote the trip.
Do I have to bring my pet to you?
No. We are a mobile service and we travel to you. Pickup and delivery both happen at the address you give us, so there is no depot, terminal or meeting facility to drive to.
What kinds of animals do you transport?
Dogs and cats make up most of our trips. If you have a different companion animal, text us the details and we will tell you honestly whether we can carry them safely.
Are you certified?
Yes. Alabama Pet Transport Services holds USDA certification for the transport of animals. It is worth asking any pet transporter this question before you book with them.
Booking & pricing
How much does pet transport cost?
Transport is charged at $0.50 per mile. Longer trips that run more than eight hours carry an additional fee on top of the mileage, which we state clearly when we quote you. There is nothing else added afterwards.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can, so we can hold the dates — but short notice is genuinely fine, and same-day and next-day departures happen regularly. If your situation is urgent, say so in the first line and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.
Do you take last-minute and emergency trips?
Yes, and they are a large part of what we do. That is the reason the phone stays on overnight and at weekends — the trips that cannot wait are usually the ones that matter most.
During the trip & getting hold of us
Will I get updates while my pet is travelling?
Yes. We stay in contact for the whole drive and send photos along the way, in both directions on a round trip. Owners consistently tell us this is the part that made the difference.
Does my pet ride in the cabin?
Your pet travels with us in a climate-controlled vehicle — never in a cargo hold and never handed between drivers. The same two people are with them from pickup to delivery.
What happens when you arrive?
We deliver to the door and then stay a while. Animals need a few minutes to work out where they are and who these new people are, and we would rather be part of that than drive away the moment the leash changes hands. We also follow up afterwards to see how they are settling.
What is the fastest way to reach you?
